Dog Town. An eccentric name, but holds a great connotation to the proverb "dog eat dog". Dog Town was a calamitous and unforgiving town where the light of law and order has long been extinguished. The Earth Defense Force, overwhelmed by the rampant crime and chaos, abandoned the area years ago. The organization was unable to contain the amount of gangs that lurked in the streets to the point where hundreds, if not nearly thousands of their soldiers died in vain. Now, Dog Town became forgotten corner of the world where only the most ruthless and desperate can hope to survive. The streets of Dog Town was considered with crumbling buildings and flickering neon signs that casted eerie, spectral glows. The infrastructure was decorated in broken streetlights, shattered windows, and graffiti-covered walls that told the tale of a city left to rot and its residents forced into uncanny situations. The air was thick with the scent of decay, and the constant ringing of illicit activity filled the night. In this anarchic scenery, the strong prey on the weak, and every man, woman, and child must fend for themselves. Criminals ruled the streets as they enforced their own brutal codes of conduct. Betrayal was a common currency and trust is a luxury no one can afford. Violence is a daily reality, with gunshots and screams echoing through the alleys like a symphony. But, there was hope for the damned town. There was a brave man who stepped up to "lead" Dog Town, except his own syndicate were considered the potentate. Their word was law and final. Those that dared to speak out were dealt with accordingly. Crime rate was rumored to lower, though still a concerning issue from killings and other illicit activities. The man behind the city was Wonto, a wealthy man who used money as influence and rise through the filthy ranks. He just so happened to be the man that was formerly a Red Ribbon Army engineer who quietly defected from the organization years ago. It then became apparent as to Kyanite's debut into the town: she had to take back Wonto for questioning. She was also told one thing, that they preferred him alive, but if he just so happened to croak, then so be it. It was one less mouth to worry about. Though, Kyanite wasn't alone in this operation. Right by her side was her partner in crime, Icorne. She was the opposite of what the cyborg's character represented, knowingly on the outside. She was smooth, calm, and more controlled compared to Kyanite. She was a human that the cyborg greatly respected within the organization and had worked with her for a brief moment. The human proved herself to be a very valuable asset, therefore never had any, or realistically, much doubt in her decisions. A cigarette was held in place between her lips as she created a small hole on the side of her mouth to exhale smoke. "Dog Town. A dog eat dog world, yet there's still some pussies hiding behind their little soldiers and have them fight their battles for them. Don't you agree?" Kyanite flashed a devilish smile at Icorne at her own crude joke.

The goal was simple. Wonto was an ex-Red Ribbon Army engineer and most that defect from the company had to pay the price and it was up to Icorne to take him back for questioning. She wasn't doing this alone, and instead went off with a longtime coworker officially considered as a friend, Kyanite. To put their contrasting qualities that complemented each other well in their dynamic, Icorne was the calm and Kyanite was the storm. After they had a lot common interests than expected from their last mission, it came as no surprise that Icorne was interested in working with her even if she was known to be a ticking time bomb. As far as she knew, Icorne was Kyanite's closest friend she could trust and vice versa.
Dog Town was... it was an interesting sight. Word on the streets was Wonto used his wealth as influence to gain control over the neighborhood. They say that crime rate had a slight decrease, but from what she saw at the very moment as she traveled down the sidewalk with Kyanite, it was all just a lie. There were a few homeless people littered all over, some gangs that lurked on some corners, and what looked to be extremely secured looking guards patrolling the streets. Her mask was currently down but right now she wanted to pull it up to her nose to block out the smell of despair.
Icorne was thrown off from Kyanite's sudden quip, but it was expected of her to make one anyway. It made her crack a smile before she burst out into a contained giggle. "You're just becoming more poetic by the day. It's a nice change of pace." She said in reference to Kyanite's usual explosive energy she expelled. She took a look around the neighborhood and spotted a few people staring at the duo as they walked down the street. She wasn't really worried about Wonto finding out about the duo or getting into trouble, but instead worried for those that'd dare try to cross their path specifically Kyanite.
"But I'd advise we try to keep ourself lowkey. We don't want to attract too much attention if we don't want Wonto to know we're here." She said.

The cyborg smirked at Icorne's playful compliment, clearly proud with her witticism. "What can I say? Working in this field put a lot into perspective." What she said, to Kyanite, wasn't far off from what she thought. Politicians, influential and polarizing figures alike, loved to hide behind people that they pay to protect them while threatening with money and puffing their chest to display an act of toughness. Deep down, if they had to fight their own wars, they were, to put it delicately, fucked. She could even argue that the Red Ribbon Army's CEO, Yuto Botan, fit the description well even though she had respect for him. The difference was if everyone abandoned the organization, then he'd be left with nothing and the Red Ribbon Army would be no more.
Kyanite casually shrugged at the human's suggestion to keep a low profile. "In a shithole like this? Not a chance. Trouble is just begging for attention, no matter how much we try to ignore it. We could try, but fate always had a funny way of messing it all up." The cyborg was pessimistic with being on the low, especially with how "out of character" they were compared with other residents that lived in Dog Town; polished, capable, and people that looked as if they didn't belong. It was why, despite the cyborg's somewhat current jolly attitude, she was kept on high alert of her surroundings.
And fate decided to test the two women. As the pair continued their journey, Kyanite accidentally bumped into a stranger who seemed to appear out of nowhere in all black, hoodie over his head. The man she bumped into, armed with a knife, glared at the women with hostility. The man she bumped into was burly with a scar running down his cheek. He stepped forward towards the cyborg as he pulled out a large knife as an outcome.
"Watch where you're going!" He hissed with venom, a threatening step taken closer towards the cyborg. "Matter of fact, if you want me to forgive you, I'd suggest you and your little friend give up everything you have if you value your life." He demanded, his voice growling with hostility.
Kyanite, meanwhile, only stared at the man for a few seconds before she hummed an amused giggle. Well, she'd be damned. Was he trying to threaten them? How adorable. "That's a cute little knife you got there," The cyborg paused for a moment as she stepped forward towards the man, her eyes narrowed as she assessed the threat before the pair. With a gentle, metallic hiss, her mantis blades extended from her arms, their razor-sharp edges glistening. "But I think mine are bigger, don't you think?" She chirped.
The burly man hesitated as his eyes widen in shock at the blades before him, his bravado wavering in the face of Kyanite's steely resolve and deadly weaponry within her arms. He felt sweat forming underneath his hoodie, just a drop sliding down on his side profile. "Gah... fine! But this ain't over. I'll find you and your little friend with my own the next time I see you. Remember that!" He spat as he shoved the weapon back in his pocket and quickly walked off from the scene.
Kyanite retracted the blades back into her arms as her eyes slid over to Icorne. "I tried to be lowkey and look at what happened. Trouble always finds us and win, one way or another."
