We'll start with the absolute basics of fighting, your combat stats. [break]
Horizon has a rather intricate combat system, while it may feel daunting at first glance, it can actually be incredibly easy to pick up. Your combat stats will look something like this, see fighting styles for specifics on your choice.

Power Level (PL): Is the main stat which decides your HP, SP, and KP. It also functions as the unit of measurement when calculating Damage.

HP, SP, and KP are all equal to two times your current power level; these numbers are not reduced by weighted clothing however unless specifically stated.

Health Points (HP): When this resource reaches zero, you are either Knocked Out or Killed.

Stamina Points (SP): This resource is required for any physical actions, including the Basic Attacks, Block and Deflect and physical based techniques.

While the above is the expected example of how stats should be written, this example needn't be followed to exact specifications. So long as the information you provide in your post is easily understood, and displays your current and maximum stats, then you are free to format the design of your stats as you desire.

As previously mentioned, your Power Level acts as your main resource which impacts all other resources.[break]
When performing any actions which will have power associated with them, that power will be directly associated with your Power Level. This includes Attacking, Defending, Dodging, or engaging in other actions[break]
The drain from your resources such as Stamina and Ki are also dependent on the amount of Power you use.[break][break]
An example to this being; if you have 100 Power Level, you would have 200 Ki.[break]
If you use an attack that equals 50% Power, this attack actually equals 50% of your Power Level, therefore it equals 50.[break]
When you use this 50% power attack, then the 50 will be taken from you Ki, lowering your Ki down to 150 out of 200.[break][break]
This method applies to you no matter the power of your techniques, and no matter the situation you're in unless otherwise stated by the specific technique being used, such as Rest, Boost, and Charge. [break]
Your Health Points are your primary resource for staying alive and conscious, as previous explained, should your Health Points drop to zero then it is up to the attacking player whether you live or die.[break]
If the Player labels their attack as Non-Lethal or with the intent to KO, then you will survive, however you will be Knocked Out for the remainder of the thread.[break]
If the Player gives no label, then all oncoming attacks are considered lethal, and will kill your character.[break][break]

Actions can enact what is known as a Struggle; this can only be performed when two Techniques which both utilize Ki come into contact, and to empower your side of the Struggle, you may only draw from your Ki Points.[break][break]
Your Stamina is used for your physical attacks, So if you punch at 12.5% of your power level, this will drain your stamina by 12.5% of your PL as well.

If you Dodge/Deflect a basic attack worth 100,000 Damage, it'll cost you 100% of that attack's damage to Stamina OR Ki. This can mix or match between the two bars, but the total needs to add up to the amount specified. If you don't have enough Ki to dodge or deflect, you'll have to block. Dodging basic attacks works the exact same way, if you're attacked with a 5% attack and the damage is 500, you'll need to dodge it with a total of 500 resources.

However, if you wish to Dodge/Deflect a technique using a basic dodge the cost will increase. Instead of costing 100% of the incoming attack damage, dodging or deflecting a technique will cost you 150% of the incoming attack damage. It's highly recommended to build up some defensive techniques in order to counter other techniques!

You can also Block an attack, to do this you simply drain 50% of the damage from your Health and the remaining 50% of the incoming damage to your stamina. So if you're attacked with an attack that's worth 10,000. You'd take 5,000 damage to your health and 5,000 cost to your stamina.

Regeneration: Both your Stamina and Energy are capable of being regenerated during battle, however, it requires you to use one action in a turn as 'Rest'. Remember, every attack that comes toward you in a turn requires a separate defense! When you rest you’ll regain 25% of your Stamina or Ki, but not both.

Note: You can create both Offensive and Defensive techniques using both Ki and Stamina, keep it balanced to provide yourself with the most options!

An Action is a motion that takes up energy. For every action, there is a reaction. Basically, this means that you've got an opportunity to react to everything that another player does.

You're allowed 3 actions in a turn. Basic actions consist of basic attacks such as Ki blasts and punches. These will also include blocking, dodging, techniques and resting.

Free Actions:
[break]
Free Actions aren't things that require you to spend energy but must be listed in your posts. Taking damage, transformations or using items would fit under the free action section.

If you're double the Power Level of everybody in the thread, you're allowed an additional two actions in each turn, if you're triple the Power Level, you're allotted an additional one after that, and so on. Also, Techniques can ONLY be used Defensively against Basic Actions. So if somebody attacks you with a punch, you can react to it with a Basic move or a Defensive Technique, but not an offensive technique. You can still counter a technique action with a Basic, but only a Basic with a technique if it's defensive.

A Technique or one action may be used to counter multiple actions or techniques being used against you given you have the appropriate power level and a technique that fits the situation. While the numbers may allow you to do this, the nature of the technique must also allow you to do this.

Example being, Goku and Vegeta both use one action each to fire their techniques at Frieza.

This will essentially allow players to use defensive techniques to use one action to counter two if it's appropriate and the player has the power output.

Just remember, the techniques MUST be able to do this and it must make sense in character. Just because you have the power, doesn't mean the situation will allow you to.

Cities and Wastelands are a big place. If a battle is taking place there, you can attempt to knock someone into a different part of the area. This creates a Split: A secondary thread that is a branch of the mother one. They are considered to be happening at the same time as the original, just at a different location.

Vegeta and Goku vs Cell and Frieza in the desert.

Vegeta tackles Cell into a different part of the desert, away from Goku and Frieza.

Splits are graded along with the Mother topic as if it was all one thread. You can only create a split once per DE, and you can only attempt to create a Split 3 times per DE, using only one action per turn. You only need to do damage of ANY amount to be successful in doing so.

A transformation is classified as a free action that is completed immediately, leaving no room to interrupt it. It does not cost any energy or stamina to activate unless otherwise stated in the transformation itself. Transforming for the first time will NOT heal any wounds but it will bring your Ki OR Stamina back to maximum capacity and regenerate 50% of your missing stat of the other. (This ONLY happens when you transform for the first time in your character's story. Not for the first time in that particular thread.)

Permanent Transformations will be based off of the flat Power Level that is in your mini-profile. You would apply the Perm Multiplier manually when writing your thread.
You don't have to start off a battle in your strongest transformation. In fact there are many instances where characters in Dragon Ball will hold back from using their final transformation! To apply the change in power and resources when you raise your transformation, you first revert your resources to your base level. Then you multiply it back up to your new multiplier.

For Example:

Bob has 1000 PL, he transforms into his next form which has a x2 multiplier.

Bob now has 2000 PL (as well as HP, Stamina, and Energy).

Throughout the battle Bob finds himself with 500 HP, 800 stamina, and 100 Energy

He decides to raise his transformation to its next level, which has a x2 multiplier

In his new transformation, Bob now has 1000HP, 1600 Stamina, and 200 Energy

As mentioned above, death occurs once a character's health reaches 0. This is fairly straightforward. Though there are few exceptions to this; if you're on a Planet that gets destroyed, you die. If you get absorbed, you die. Simple as that.
So, what happens when you die? The process is simple. First, you'll be sent to the Other World and be brought in to the Check-in station. From there, you'll start a thread and await judgement on your behaviors as a living being.

If you've lived a life of good, you will be sent up to the heavens and if you lived a life of bad, you'll be sent straight to hell.
[break][break]
Once your location is decided you'll be able to role play in the locations in those areas. If other players are dead and in your area, you'll be allowed to role play with them. If one character is in heaven and another in hell, you cannot thread with them.

There's a nice little bonus for all those participating in Other World activities. Since it CAN get lonely, characters that are dead in the Other World will receive a 40% bonus on their Power Level gains when posting, this will not affect your zeni.

The length of when you're stuck in the other world is one month. Every time you die, you will remain wherever you are sent for one month before your return to the living world.

Once your time is up, you can find a creative way to explain why your character is sent back to the world of the living. Of course, if you have allies gather the Dragon Balls and wish you back to life, you'll get transported right back to the world of the living! After your first death, all other deaths must be reversed by the use of the Dragon Balls if you wish to be brought back alive immediately.

Note: You only take items that are on your body to Other World. If you die without weights on but own them, you wont be allowed to take them with you into the after-life.

Transformations:Transforming for the first time will NOT heal any wounds but it will bring your Ki OR Stamina back to maximum capacity and regenerate 50% of your missing stat of the other. (This ONLY happens upon a FIRST transformation for that character.)

Vaporization: Some characters may have a racial trait that allow them to regenerate themselves, in this case you must vaporize them. An Action is a motion that takes up energy. For every action, there is a reaction. Basically, this means that you've got an opportunity to react to everything that another player does.

Actions:

You're allowed 3 actions in a turn. Basic actions consist of basic attacks such as Ki blasts and punches. These will also include blocking, dodging, techniques and resting.

Free Actions:

Free Actions aren't things that require you to spend energy but must be listed in your posts. Taking damage, transformations or using items would fit under the free action section.

If you're double the Power Level of everybody in the thread, you're allowed an additional two actions in each turn, if you're triple the Power Level, you're allotted an additional one after that, and so on. Also, Techniques can ONLY be used Defensively against Basic Actions. So if somebody attacks you with a punch, you can react to it with a Basic move or a Defensive Technique, but not an offensive technique. You can still counter a technique action with a Basic, but only a Basic with a technique if it's defensive.

A Technique or one action may be used to counter multiple actions or techniques being used against you given you have the appropriate power level and a technique that fits the situation. While the numbers may allow you to do this, the nature of the technique must also allow you to do this.

Example being, Goku and Vegeta both use one action each to fire their techniques at Frieza.

Goku Action: [OT1]Kamehameha for 50,000 Damage.
[break]
Vegeta Action: [OT1] Galick Gun for 50,000 Damage.

Frieza could use either..
[DT2]Rapid Movement for 100,000 Stamina to avoid it completely.

[DT2] Ki Barrier for 100,000 Energy to block it completely.

[DT2] KI Barrier for 75,000 energy to reduce the damage received to 25,000.

This will essentially allow players to use defensive techniques to use one action to counter two if it's appropriate and the player has the power output.

Just remember, the techniques MUST be able to do this and it must make sense in character. Just because you have the power, doesn't mean the situation will allow you to.
Split Thread (DE Only)

Cities and Wastelands are a big place. If a battle is taking place there, you can attempt to knock someone into a different part of the area. This creates a Split: A secondary thread that is a branch of the mother one. They are considered to be happening at the same time as the original, just at a different location.

Vegeta tackles Cell into a different part of the desert, away from Goku and Frieza.

Splits are graded along with the Mother topic as if it was all one thread. You can only create a split once per DE, and you can only attempt to create a Split 3 times per DE, using only one action per turn. You only need to do damage of ANY amount to be successful in doing so.

Transformations
A transformation is classified as a free action that is completed immediately, leaving no room to interrupt it. It does not cost any energy or stamina to activate unless otherwise stated in the transformation itself. Transforming for the first time will NOT heal any wounds but it will bring your Ki OR Stamina back to maximum capacity and regenerate 50% of your missing stat of the other. (This ONLY happens when you transform for the first time in your character's story. Not for the first time in that particular thread.)

Permanent Transformations will be based off of the flat Power Level that is in your mini-profile. You would apply the Perm Multiplier manually when writing your thread.
Raising your Transformation
You don't have to start off a battle in your strongest transformation. In fact there are many instances where characters in Dragon Ball will hold back from using their final transformation! To apply the change in power and resources when you raise your transformation, you first revert your resources to your base level. Then you multiply it back up to your new multiplier.

For Example:

Bob has 1000 PL, he transforms into his next form which has a x2 multiplier.

Bob now has 2000 PL (as well as HP, Stamina, and Energy).

Throughout the battle Bob finds himself with 500 HP, 800 stamina, and 100 Energy

He decides to raise his transformation to its next level, which has a x2 multiplier

In his new transformation, Bob now has 1000HP, 1600 Stamina, and 200 Energy

Death
As mentioned above, death occurs once a character's health reaches 0. This is fairly straightforward. Though there are few exceptions to this; if you're on a Planet that gets destroyed, you die. If you get absorbed, you die. Simple as that.
Other World
So, what happens when you die? The process is simple. First, you'll be sent to the Other World and be brought in to the Check-in station. From there, you'll start a thread and await judgement on your behaviors as a living being.

If you've lived a life of good, you will be sent up to the heavens and if you lived a life of bad, you'll be sent straight to hell.

Once your location is decided you'll be able to role play in the locations in those areas. If other players are dead and in your area, you'll be allowed to role play with them. If one character is in heaven and another in hell, you cannot thread with them.

There's a nice little bonus for all those participating in Other World activities. Since it CAN get lonely, characters that are dead in the Other World will receive a 40% bonus on their Power Level gains when posting, this will not affect your zeni.

The length of when you're stuck in the other world is one month. Every time you die, you will remain wherever you are sent for one month before your return to the living world.

Once your time is up, you can find a creative way to explain why your character is sent back to the world of the living. Of course, if you have allies gather the Dragon Balls and wish you back to life, you'll get transported right back to the world of the living! After your first death, all other deaths must be reversed by the use of the Dragon Balls if you wish to be brought back alive immediately.

Note: You only take items that are on your body to Other World. If you die without weights on but own them, you wont be allowed to take them with you into the after-life.

Vaporization: Some characters may have a racial trait that allow them to regenerate themselves, in this case you must vaporize them. Vaporization is done by using an attack strong enough to dish out AT LEAST 2.5x their Power Level in damage, and you must dish it out in one attack. If you fail to do this the person will live but will be knocked out.
