He awoke with a start as his skin informed his brain that he was currently laying against cold metal instead of against… what had he been laying against before he fell asleep? It took him a moment to recall, but the last thing he remembered was laying down in a secluded area of a public park for a quick nap. A local Hobo by the name of Ramaris had warned him not to, but he’d dismissed the man’s words of caution. Ramaris was known for his conspiracy theories so the young man hadn’t put any weight to his words.
Cracking open an eye it looked like he should have.
From what he could see from his horizontal position he was inside the dingy metal walls, stained with rust and who knows what else and feel the constant vibrations in the floor of some kind of ship. From the various shapes and sizes of the miserable and bound people he could see he had a sneaking suspicion it wasn’t a water going vessel either.
Some of those around him startled as he picked himself up and inspected himself, as if they’d thought he wouldn’t get up so suddenly. Looking down he saw he was still clothed, thank goodness, and his wrists where bound in strange cuffs. They where somewhat thick with blinking lights and a cable running between them. Flexing he also noted he couldn’t draw on enough ki to break them, not due to a lack of it but because something, likely the cuffs prevented him from drawing it out.
“It’s pointless, young man.” An old voice said near him. Looking over Liek saw the withered figure of a strange, rotund, pink creature. The creature had spikes all over the top of it’s head and around it’s forearms. The being looked the young man over and nodded in satisfaction, “Well, at least you seem to be in good health, better then some these bastards have brought in.” The large alien said while nodding towards another group of figures.
Looking over Liek took note that they looked alike, and distressingly they all bore the bruises and cuts from a severe beating, even the ones that where clearly children. They where all huddled together and shivering, Liek could only imagine from the pain and fear of their predicament, even if he wasn’t fully aware of what was going on.
He turned his gaze away from the family to the cuffs and then back to the large alien, “Ok, so what’s going on? Last thing I remember was laying down to take a nap in a park.”
The large alien laughed humorlessly, “Then you got off better then most.” Shaking their head, Liek still unable to place the gender of the individual, the alien gestured around, “You’ve been captured by intergalactic slavers. They don’t care who they take, young and old, strong and weak… if they think they can make a profit off selling them they will take who they can.” The alien scowled, tearing up, “They took me just days before my wedding…”
“I’m so sorry to hear that…” The young man empathised. His face revealing his disgust at the slavers for all they had done. After a moment he lifted the cuffs and asked, “And these? How do they work?”
Snapping back to the moment the alien muttered for a second before replying, “Huh…? Oh, they suppress a warrior’s ability to use ki, rendering them harmless.”
“Hmm…” Liek nodded and pondered the circumstances. He also tested the limits of the cuffs as he tried to figure out a plan of action, after all there was no way he was going to allow himself to become some slaver’s merchandise!
He could still feel it, the ki running through him. Whenever he tried to hold it to reinforce his limbs for super strength the ki just flowed away, like beach sand through his fingers. But control wasn’t fully torn away from him, and the flow was still there. Suppression. Not nullification.
He smirked and concentrated. Pressing his hands together he willing his ki to flow in that familiar way only he knew how, a flow the cuffs knew nothing about, so unlike the typical methods of manipulating ki. Instead of using it directly it was merely a catalyst for accessing a power outside the bounds of the cuffs jurisdiction. Opening his palms the boy smirked at the sight of the blade of Orgone he’d managed to materialise.
A moment later a pair of cuffs thudded to the ground and the alien looked at their now freed hands in wonder, the organite blade slicing through the cuffs like a hot knife through butter. They looked at the smirking Liek as the young man offered them the blade, “Now, let’s get everyone off this boat?”
The alien grinned and a moment later Liek’s cuffs thudded to the floor.
Screams of bewilderment and fear tore through the slaver ship as the escaped slaves tore through it, violently dealing with any and all slavers they came across.
The beaten family wailed on the ringleader that had captured them with pipes they had ripped from a wall. A cerealian dominated a fire fight with four slavers armed with guns while a changeling protected them. A Namekian moved from group to group providing healing.
Meanwhile Liek and his new alien friend tore through the ship to the bridge, bursting on the deck and unceremoniously killing two of the crew, leaving only the captain. Snarling the man stood tall, decked out in a flamboyant outfit more akin to a pirate stereotype then a slaver, before levelling a blaster at the two, “Ungrateful fools. You think you’re freeing yourselves? BAH! You are only freeing yourselves into wasting away! Your lives will have no worth! At least as slaves you could be part of something bigger then yourselves!”
“Worthless?!” The alien snarled, “I was about to be married! How dare you call that… ME… worthless!!”
“Married? Don’t make me laugh!” The captain spat back, “No woman would want to marry a fat tub of lard like you!”
“I AM A WOMAN!!” the alien shriek and launched herself at the captain.
...It would take some time for Liek to process the horror of the screams he heard…
Some time later the young man stood on the ramp of the space ship as the other former slaves waved to him. The large alien approached him and wrapped her big arms around him in a hug before saying, “Thank you so much for this Liek, you saved us all! I can finally go back to my beloved!”
“No worries, Zibia.” The young man replied, awkwardly returning the hug, “And thanks to you as well.”
The large woman stepped away, rubbing a tear from her eye and added, “If you are ever in the neighbourhood please feel free to stop in for a visit! You are always welcome.”
Liek smiled, “Sure thing. And the same to you.” And with the he jumped off the ramp and flew a short way from the ship before turning to watch it rocket off into the heavens to return all the ex-slaves to their homes. Smiling in satisfaction the young man flared his ki and shot off into the distance.
