Unlike most days where it was sunny, this time the skies were dark as they were painted with gray clouds obscuring the bright blue atmosphere. It appeared as though it was going to rain. It's been a few days since the rescue of the king of the earth from the anarchism group, the Phantom Blades. Or at least, part of them. All on her own, Kyanite took down four men responsible for the kidnapping of the most political figure on the planet. Out of those four men, two of them struck both interest and concern. The cyborg discovered that two of the men were students of the Crane School, a martial arts institution open for the public to take lessons. It was owned and ran under a man that went by the moniker "Master Shen".
With the king of earth's blessing and special permission, Kyanite's new mission was to find this master and interrogate him. Luckily before she set off for the Crane School's dojo, she was able to identify the two men in question: Prinro and Ayos. Other than their names, their appearances that were installed in Kyanite's phone to be shown, and their affiliation with the Phantom Blades not much else was known about the duo. The cyborg only hoped things would go smoothly, but had no issue if things went south and forced to take drastic measures. Before she made it, Kyanite consumed another shake of her Pre-Workout Mix.
Kyanite arrived to the dojo and excused herself in the building in the spite of the sign on the door that stated business hours were over for the day. Within the polished dojo stood an older man near a desk. From the side, the man wore a green Crane School changshan with yellow sleeves and red lining, and a black Chinese skullcap with a model of a crane's head on the top and black glasses. This was her target, Master Shen. In relations to him, the man turned his head around as he heard someone enter into the dojo despite it being closed. The two locked eyes with each other in silence that lasted for a few seconds before Master Shen finally spoke. "The dojo is closed, in case you're illiterate. You'll have to come back some time in the morning if you want to register for classes." He huffed with condensation.
"Fuck your classes." Kyanite cussed at the older man, already impatient. The method of approaching the topic in a more cordial manner was out the window. Now she had to be rough if she wanted answers, because something told her this won't be a simple interrogation and the cyborg was prepared for it. Kyanite took a few swift but heavy steps closer to the older man and flashed the images of the two men on her phone. "Prinro and Ayos. Two of these men wore your school's uniforms and were involved in the king's kidnapping." She explained.
Master Shen took a closer look at the screen, studying it for a moment before he casually shrugged off the picture. "An unfortunate turn of events for the king. It's a shame. As rude and impudent this individual is before me, at least he was saved by them." He replied in reference to the broadcast Kyanite made to reassure that the king was then safe and the men were "apprehended" for their crimes. It seemed as though he knew them.
Just as Kyanite expected, it was true. These men were students, and now she needed to know Master Shen's involvement. "Anywho, they are former students from years ago. They come and go as they please. I have no interest in their petty crimes after they have left the school, otherwise." His tone was dismissive as he waved his hand in one short motion. "Although the idea of them wearing such sacred clothing is vile, such a shame." The man sighed.
The cyborg inhaled as much as she could before she heavily exhaled to keep her temper in check. "The king gets kidnapped and you label that as a petty crime. These men wear your uniform and somehow that's worse?" She already felt her blood boiling, but had to stay in line for now.
"But of course. If they wear anything resembling the Crane School, then it means we, as a community, are involved, when we simply aren't. If I were able to find them, I would've dealt with them personally. Clearly I didn't have the technology or whatnot to track them down, but you did. So, I do fail to understand this entire interaction." Master Shen calmly explained, for the first time he turned his entire body and full attention to the woman. "Wouldn't you agree, cyborg?" The older man already figured out about Kyanite's racial identity, though it was expected since she had no ki signature.
Kyanite gritted her teeth, her free hand curled into a fist. "You seem awfully calm about your former students being international criminals and the king being kidnapped, old man. Do you really think I'm going to buy your bullshit excuse of a story?" Her tone gotten more aggressive as she took one more step forward, but Master Shen remained unfazed at the cyborg's attempt of intimidation.
"Because it isn't a story. It's true. They were former students from years ago. Why they wore the uniforms, I don't know the answer to. If anything, you could've interrogated them. On second thought, your anger is clouding your sense of logic. Perhaps you should meditate and clear your mind, maybe register for one of our classes in the morn-"
Kyanite's patience broke. In one fluid motion, the blades in her arm extended and spread apart, gleaming ominously in the dim light. "ENOUGH! Don't play games with me, old man. I know you have connections! Tell me who they are, who you've worked with, or you'll regret it." She snarled. This was his last chance. If he continued to shift the goal post, then it gave the cyborg more than a justified reason to use physical force for answers.
Shen cocked an eyebrow of curiosity as he stared down at Kyanite. He seemed amused at the cool persona broken down and replaced with anger. He looked to be... interested. He was quick to reply, "Regret it? Do you believe your threats mean anything to me? I have faced greater dangers than you, cyborg."
And that was all it took for Kyanite to suddenly snap.
