It had been a while since Liek had sensed the presence of Zaks on Earth, he had felt her presence growing more and more distant weeks ago but given the direction it had been heading and the line of work the older woman had he figured it was something related to her job and had thought nothing of it. That said, she was back and stronger then ever! He didn’t know what the older woman had been up to, but feeling one of his friendly rivals so astronomically strong wasn’t something he was just going to overlook.

That, and he was fully aware she would be wearing her weighted gear, just as he was, so it was absolutely no doubt in the youth’s mind that her real power was significantly greater then what he was presently sensing. Saiyan, Demon and Knight all clamoured to know how she got so strong so quickly and urged him on to learn the secret.

Not wanting to waste time he had quickly mapped out the path between his present location and where he sensed Zaks’ presence, her being somewhere in the tropical islands in the Southern Region while he’d been wandering the streets of West City, just exploring for fun. Deciding that the most efficient number was three the youth mapped out the end points of each of those three before disappearing from where he had been standing, shocking a stray cat.

The boy reappeared in the exact same moment near the edge of the western continent before repeating the trick a moment later, this time going unnoticed by anyone. This second teleport put the youth above the general area he’d felt Zaks’ presence. Looking around the young man let his senses guide his eyes until they landed on a pod ship from which the older woman’s unique energy signature was emanating.

Smiling the boy blinked out of existence again, reappearing again at the hatch to the pod. For a brief moment he had considered just warping inside the pod and giving Zaks a shock, but he didn’t want to accidentally catch her in an inappropriate moment. Looking at the pod he realised he had absolutely no idea how to open it, let along let Zaks know he was there through traditional mean. Shrugging he decided he didn’t need to know how to do either as he had a way to contact her that didn’t need spoken words…

And boy did he have timing on establishing his Telepathic connection, reaching her right as she uttered the last two words. Slowly a suspicious grin grew on his face as he started communicating directly to the older woman’s mind, “You know, I don’t think I’m old enough for that just yet.”

“Also, Hi!” He added, “I’m here to visit.”

The young man just chuckled at the elder woman’s words, the comments about his physique rolling off him like water, after all it was just some good natured banter between friends. Besides, it wasn’t like Liek himself couldn’t pick out physical traits about Zaks he considered undesirable, like her massive height. But even if he did have such opinions he wouldn’t use them against her, or, really, use them as a reason to reject her either. After all, what he knew of her so far was that she was a good, kindhearted person, Sure, she’d done bad things in the past, but she was atoning for that and using those mistakes to motivate herself to do better. Liek had come to admire that about her.

He grinned and flexed an arm in an exaggerated way, “Yeah, I’m coming along. Still got a long way to catch up to you, Zaks, but I have no intention of slowing down.” As he followed her into the pod he nodded along and replied, “Yeah, I was kind of roped into it, but I’m a Lieutenant in the Earth Defence Force now. They even put me in charge of a unit, so between missions, training and putting the unit through their paces I’ve been keeping busy.” He smiled fondly as he thought about the men and women in his unit, they where all good people… that and he got a certain sadistic satisfaction out of their faces after a particularly brutal training session with them. When he was offered a bottle of water he nodded and retrieved one, “Thank you.”

After a pause he leaned against a wall before smirking. He looked over at Zaks and spoke into her mind directly again, “Oh yeah, and I figured out how to do telepathy.” He opened the bottle of water and while taking a mouthful of water in added, still using telepathy, “Really makes coordinating my unit easy. I act as a relay for everyone and we can act as a pseudo-hive mind.”

“To keep a long story short, I have been wanting to know what it’s like to be in a military. As I said in one of our previous discussions, the Fury had a very strong military culture, and being in the Earth military is the closest I can get to that if I don’t want to go with the Saiyans.” Liek started to explain, “I’d been talking about it with General Akubra on and off for a while. Then the King got kidnapped by some group called the Phantom Blades and I ended up being deployed with what would become my squad.” The young man rubbed the back of his head embarrassed, “I may have made quite the impression on the King and the people in South City when I went Great Ape to fight a giant robot to secure the rescue.” A grin and a chuckle escaped his lips.

“So yeah, the King kind of went over the heads of most of High Command and brought me in as a Lieutenant right from the get go when he was giving me the awards for saving him…” Liek sighed, “...which he did on live TV…” He sighed again, “So it wasn’t like I could back out once that happened…”

“You aren’t wrong. Even my Tri-Stars would be at their limits against a real invasion by the Saiyans. And that’s with their power armour, shock rounds, ki suppression darts and high speed transports.” Liek agreed with Zaks’ assessment. Folding his arms he shook his head, “I mean, working together they could take out a squad like what we fought before no problem. But not a proper invasion force, let alone during a full moon. Eighteen people, plus me, just isn’t enough.” They really where outclassed in terms of both power and sheer numbers.

“Sadly no, no mind reading.” He gave the woman a suspicious squint at her comments, “You know, somehow I don’t think I want to know what those are.” He shook his head before adding, “Though being able to read minds would be pretty powerful, knowing what an opponent intends to do the moment they do? It would make countering trivial, so long as they don’t completely outclass you…” Shaking his head he admitted, “But that’s beyond what I can do.”

“Didn’t have anything planned.” He admitted, the rest of the Tri-Stars where enjoying a rest day, which left the youth free to do as he pleased. Cocking his eye brow he replied, “Gravity Chamber? I’ve heard of those but never been in one.” Smiling he added, “Count me in! It’ll get me ready for when I can get one of my own!”
