"... The hell with it."
The evening was calm and peaceful, it was about eight at night, the decision he was weighing was now final. After a couple weeks of debating his options on how to move forward, he finally made up his mind on what path he was going to choose and that path was going to be his own. While the decision was a difficult one and one he had been thinking about for the last few weeks, he came to the conclusion that he ultimately thought best for him and some of the fighters he came across in those few weeks might've helped him figure it out. He preached to some of them about how powerful they were, how they shouldn't be following orders from those weaker than them, how they shouldn't just be a pawn to somebody else's game and yet he was doing just that. The decision process was slow, however Athren needed to make damn sure that this was his best move going forward. His choice had meant leaving the Saiyan Empire for good and likely putting a target on his back. His race wouldn't take kindly to him going AWOL and surely there would be those who would be sent for him. While he was putting himself in danger for this decision, he couldn't help but feel relieved that he was taking a step for himself as in fact, this wasn't for anybody else or any other faction. He wasn't under orders, this was his decision, for his own gain. It was a simple idea, yet one that would take a great amount of effort to pull off.
This whole idea had started when the Demon God Aeshma had revealed himself to Athren. He stated that he was Athren's father and while it was hard to believe at first, he came to believe it. This came from him investigating the some of Aeshma's other statements and confirming them to be true. Such as a floating lookout above the tower that was located at Korin's forest. While it was difficult to believe at first, Athren had always known he was different than the rest of the saiyan race, his abilities unique, his features different and a transformation that had a demonic presence to it. The more and more he thought about, the more and more it made sense. The evidence suggested he was a mix blood and now he had something to fall back on with it, something to believe.
Further proof was Athren's ability to learn magic, it was something that required dedication and hard work over the last couple of weeks but he managed to learn the basics of Magic Materialization and he hadn't heard of a single saiyan that could harness such a thing before. With the evidence before him, he finally gave in, he finally believed it. His father was a Demon God. However, this wasn't going to change anything about the way he fought or the way he carried himself. He was born a saiyan and raised a saiyan, and that's who he'd be until the day that he died, he now just had a few more tricks up his sleeve with an explanation and more knowledge, he didn't have to wonder what he was anymore, now he could embrace it.
This knowledge didn't come alone, it also came with history on why he was brought into this world and why his father had chosen the saiyan race. He saw their power, their potential and Aeshma needed a warrior to be the muscle, the power to achieve his goals since Aeshma had lost it long ago. It was all explained to Athren that a long time ago, hundreds of years even that Aeshma had come to Earth to use it's Dragon Balls. They were much easier than the Demon realms, unguarded, spread out and all one would have to do is find them. His plan was simple, he was going to use these Dragon Balls in order to begin turning Universe Seven into a Fourth Demon Realm, he wanted to expand his rule, his Kingdom. He wanted to become the most powerful Demon God known to the universe. While Aeshma was much more powerful than any being on Earth, his power led to his ultimate defeat. He underestimated the techniques of the former Guardian of Earth and the Supreme Kai and they worked together, tricked him and sealed him away. He remained sealed away until thirty one years ago and he immediately began plotting his revenge. Athren had been part of that plan, however.. Athren didn't buy into it and he wasn't going to go along with it.
Aeshma wanted Athren to join him, to use the Dragon Balls and bring about this Fourth Demon Realm but Athren ultimately had no interest. He played along and acted like he might join him however that wasn't the case. He used that to try and get more information out of Aeshma and it worked. Not only did Aeshma inform Athren of what the Dragon Balls were, but he informed him about how they operated and were created by the Earth's guardian. The fate of the Dragon Balls had been linked to the Guardian, if the Guardian had been killed the Dragon Balls would turn to stone. While Athren had also learned of the Kai's, those were of the least importance. The Dragon Balls were his priority now but he didn't want them. He believed that they were too dangerous, they were unnatural and could grant a single wish to anybody who gathered them and from the sound of this Demon Realm plan, that wish could have a massive effect on the universe. This went against everything Athren believed in, he believed that if you couldn't acquire something with your own hands, your own power.. you shouldn't have it. He was going to take care of this Dragon Ball problem and for his own purposes, fight against the very same deities that had trapped his father all those years ago. This was for himself, to prevent them from mingling in his own business, to avoid them tinkering with the universe. The universe belonged to those who lived in it, not these.. fake gods. He refused to be a pawn in their game.
He knew he was playing a very dangerous game and he was simply making this decision based on the information given to him from Aeshma, he wasn't even aware of the God of Destruction or the Angels. beings that could erase him in an instant. Still, these Dragon Balls couldn't exist, they carried too much of a risk and that was his first move. He had to eliminate them and once they were gone, he'd start forging this planet into what he wanted it to be. He'd take things back to the roots of nature, the weak perish while the strong survive. Survival of the fittest. He'd even lay claim to this lookout and quite literally be above all. He'd take the place of this Guardian and become a god. It was time to step out of the shadow cast upon him by the Saiyan Empire, step away from the mold that his father created. It was time for him to become his own and if it meant his death, he'd fight until the very end and go down like a warrior, a true saiyan with his pride fully intact. Preparing for what could be a fight felt like second nature, his adrenaline already began pumping. He expected a fight and while he was in this position hundreds of times before, it never got old. In fact, he was hoping for a fight, some resistance.
Before he left he made sure to have a good meal and have a nice shower. He got himself dressed in his usual saiyan attire and left his ship, he blasted off into the sky and made for the Western Region of Earth. He knew exactly where this place was for he scouted it out just a day before when the androids had attacked him. When he arrived at the base of the tower he flew up straight past the top of it and broke through the clouds. It was almost like he was ascending to something higher, something greater but for himself.
He didn't know what was going to be waiting for him on that lookout but he had but in the preparation time and the work to be ready for it. He just couldn't allow himself to put his guard down, he wouldn't be sealed away like his father. He'd go for the killing blow as soon as he could. He wasn't one to waste time and now that he had an objective in his mind, he wouldn't stop until it was finished. His first step was in progress and he was ready for it. It wasn't long before his ocean blue eyes rested on the bottom of the lookout, he flew around and landed on floating platform.
He scanned the area before walking slowly towards the building, he was looking for a Namekian. "Namekian!" He said loudly, trying to gather the attention of this guardian. He didn't think anybody would come out but at the same time, if the Namekian was the guardian of this planet, how could he not? Wasn't it his whole role? As Athren got closer and closer to the building on the lookout a Namekian finally came out and Athren stopped dead in his tracks. He sensed Dende and his power level wasn't that high, unless he was concealing it, this was going to be rather easy.
Dende got close, likely closer than he should have but he didn't expect a threat like this to show up.
"Can I help you?"
Athren got straight to the point, he wasn't here to waste time. He was here on his own assignment and this assignment was more important than anything he had done for the Saiyan Empire. This was for him. "You're responsible for creating the Dragon Balls on this Planet, aren't you?" Aeshma had stated a Namekian at this location was the one linked to the Dragon Balls and Athren couldn't sense anybody else, the logical conclusion was that this Namekian before him was the one he was seeking out. He would also know for a fact upon this Namekian's reaction.
Dende's face had been filled with surprise, his posture had changed as he shifted himself back just a step. "Uh..! What do you want with the Dragon Balls?" He asked as a drop of sweat ran down his forehead. He tried to talk to the Demon-Saiyan before him, wanting his own answer as to why he was here on the lookout.
However, now that Athren had confirmed his suspicions he transformed into his Demonic Presence state. He slowly raised his right hand as the glow of Ki began to form from his palm and it was aimed right towards the Namekian. This had only caused Dende to panic even more. "This isn't personal but I simply can't allow something like the Dragon Balls to exist." That was the only explanation Dende was going to get before his death. Aeshma was proof of this, if he had gotten hold of them all those years ago this Planet and maybe even the entire universe would've been completely different. With the glow of his hand getting brighter, Athren was ready to kill the Namekian on the spot. While the Planet didn't matter to Athren, the effect that these Dragon Balls could have was just too drastic. They couldn't be allowed to remain, they had to go. While Athren didn't sense anybody else around at the moment, he didn't expect this to be so easy. Surely, there had to be guards hiding out to jump out at any time or this Namekian had a trick up his sleeve. He was the guardian of Earth after all. In all but a few short moments, Athren was going to see just how easy this was going to be.
