1) Respecting Others[break]
Players are expected to remain respectful and civil whether they are speaking with a member of Staff or another Player. Respect the opinions of others, avoid conflict, refrain from insulting others and to act maturely.[break][break]
Purposely offending staff and/or other members will not be tolerated, and though we aren't against swearing, please pay attention to how other members feel about it.[break]
We try to make this forum a very welcoming place for everyone, and things such as racism and discrimination will not be tolerated.
[break][break]
2) Discord Rules[break]
Continuing from Rule 1, Players are expected to maintain a civil attitude even when off-site, on our Discord Server. The same rules are expected to be upheld, and further Rules specifically relating to the Discord can be found on the Server itself. Players can access the Discord Server via the Quick Navigation located at the top right of every page.
[break][break]
3) Site Rating[break]
Keep the site PG-13. [break]
We're fully opened to and encourage dramatic fight scenes that include detailed injuries, however we strongly avoid sexual content.[break]
This includes both pictures and in-character actions, innocent nudity is acceptable. All other sexual content however must be kept off the site and Discord, and may only be alluded to by a fade to black ending.
[break][break]
4) Character Face Claims [break]
When using any image that is not from an Official Source as your Characters Face Claim, said image must be credited to a Source.[break]
Be it by crediting through links from DeviantArt, Twitter, Instagram, etc, all non-official artwork must be credited in the Player Application within the Appearance Section.[break][break]
This is to respect the artist and give credit where credit is due, however should the artist of the image request the image to be taken down, Player will be expected to comply with this request.[break]
This does not apply if you own the art or the art was specifically commissioned for you.
[break][break]
5) Exploitation and Subversion[break]
Neither the intentional nor unintentional abuse of mechanics will be tolerated.[break]
We understand mistakes can be made, and as such, punishments for the exploitation of flaws in the system will be handled on a case by case basis.[break]
Players are expected to join our community with a reasonable understanding of what constitutes as fair and unfair, and as such, are expected to report when a feature of our system seems too overpowered, easily abused for gains, or exploitable for an unfair advantage.[break][break]
If a Player is unsure of whether a suspiciously good feature of our mechanics may be an exploit or not, we highly encourage Players to ask the Staff to be sure. There is never any harm in asking, however Players are expected to ask Staff in a setting in which all Staff are capable of viewing the question.[break]
ie - Through the Ticket System on our Discord Server, or through the Public Questions channel. NOT through Direct Messages to a single Admin.[break][break]
NOTE: All answers given, as well as all mechanics on the site are subject to change at the discretion of the Staff to maintain balance. As such, decision reversals and rollbacks may be made if something is found to be overtly broken after further research into the matter has been done.[break][break]
6) Rule Breaking[break]
Should any of the aforementioned rules, or subsequent rules to follow in this section be broken, understand that punishment will be issued with regards to the severity of the crime.[break]
We do not issue blanket punishments, however Players will all be held by the same standard.[break][break]
All infractions will be handled on a case by case basis. Should a Player choose not to communicate properly with staff on the matter, it will be to their detriment.[break]
Any Player attempting to argue with Staff on their rulings will be considered in violation of Rule 1 and issued warnings accordingly.[break][break]
Here on New Horizon, we maintain a simple three strike warning system.[break]
First time violations will result in a documented "Verbal Warning".
Subsequent violations will result in a detail explanations of the issues at hand, "Strikes" adding to your account, up to three. Upon receiving your third Strike, you will be immediately banned from the site and server. This decision is non-negotiable and will not be reversed under any circumstances.[break][break]
Strikes however, are not issued immediately; if you are found to be in violation of our rules or should you act out of hand, the staff team will review the case and determine an appropriate punishment. This could include a simple mute in the Discord server for five minutes to a an aforementioned Strike. This will depend on the occurring offense and how frequently said Player has incurred such violations.
[break][break]
1) Account Creation and Posting[break]
During sign up, Players are expected to create a User Name which matches their Character name. As well, when posting, Player are of course expected to post under the correct account to avoid confusion. If you intend to play with multiple character, you are expected to create a second account which follows the same set of rules.
[break][break]
2) Multiple Characters[break]
Players are allowed up to five characters in total, you may create the first two at any time without any limitations though upon creating your third character, you will have to have both characters over 100,000 power level and at least 2 months active with the newest character. Your newest character must be above 100,000 to create the next though character swapping shall be open to you.[break][break]
3) Character Swapping[break]
Should for any reason a Player may seek to swap their existing character for another, be it due to reaching the character limit or not meeting the requirements for creating additional characters, Players are allowed to swap their existing character into a new character once every 3 months.[break][break]
When Character swapping, Player may convert 100% of their characters Power Level into their new character. [break]
Players are also allowed the option to perform a character swap without waiting 3 months, however will incur a severe penalty should they do so. This may include, but is not limited to penalties such as reduced power level, being ineligible for Rookie bonus, or being barred from using the feature entirely is abused.[break][break]
4) Plagiarism[break]
Plagiarism will not be tolerated in any manner; should a Player be caught plagiarizing, they will be contacted by staff on the matter and will be punished accordingly should it be found without a question of a doubt that said Player was plagiarizing. This may include an immediate ban without any strikes or warnings given.[break]break]
We are absolutely against plagiarism and will NOT tolerate the creativity of another writer's intelligence being stolen.[break]
This includes copying and pasting other member's posts, be it from our own site or another site, and claiming them as your own. We also do not tolerate reusing posts from prior RP's either, even if you are the writer of them.[break][break]
All posts are meant to originate here without question, however this does not mean you are not allowed to use plots or inspiration from other sources.
[break][break]
5) No Meta-Gaming [break]
Meta-Gaming in any fashion will not be tolerated.[break]
This includes, but is not limited to the following-[break]
• Knowing the actions or intentions of other character without proper reason.[break]
• Creating techniques in direct, blatant opposition to another, specific Player.[break]
• Finding measures on-site to circumvent quest or training rules.[break]
• Lying about having trained techniques or owned particular items at certain times.[break]
• Editing posts that have been graded by Staff in an attempt to deceive others into thinking you have something you don't.[break]
• Creating or joining new threads when unable to do so, such as when DE locked or on a planet separate from the area you're attempt to start a new thread in.[break][break]
While these may be the only examples listed, forms of Meta-Gaming are not limited to only what has been described. Players are expected to act with common sense and use proper reasoning when determining what may constitute as Meta-Gaming. should you find yourself unsure if something you intend do do will constitute Meta-Gaming, you are encouraged to ask questions on the matter on our Discord Server.
[break][break]
6) No God-Modding, Bunnying, or No-Selling[break]
God-Modding is described as performing actions outside the means of your character, be it by narratively doing things that allow you to completely avoid or manipulate situations without being approved for the means to do so. Or by ignoring mechanics in play by disregarding stats, or completely ignoring other Players actions.[break][break]
Bunnying is described as taking control of another Player Character without permission of said Player. This includes moving the character that isn't your own, having the character react in ways the Player didn't describe, or wording your attacks or other actions against the other character in a manner that suggests they happened without giving the other player the chance to react.[break][break]
No-Selling is described as either ignoring, or reacting to other characters in a manner that doesn't allow narrative impact. For our particular form of RP, this can be described in such ways as receiving a mechanical attack that does significant damage, but writing out your reaction as if nothing had happened. Or facing a significantly more powerful opponent, and treating their every action as if it were nothing compared to your character.
[break][break]
7) Character Creation[break]
Once you've created your account, you'll then be allowed to create your character.[break]
When creating a character, Players may only select from the list of available Races and may not suggest or request anything outside what is listed.[break]
Starting locations are limited to either Earth o Vegeta, regardless of chosen Race.[break][break]
When constructing your character backstory/history, you are expecting to keep things within reason.[break]
You may not describe having relationships with any Canon characters, however you may reference knowing of them. You are also expected to refrain from describing your character in a MarySue/GaryStu fashion; your story takes place within the story of the site, you are not to describe yourself as a god, the ruler of any of the canon locations, or anything else to that fashion.
[break][break]
8) Using Gains[break]
When acquiring gains of any kind, be it PL, Zeni, Techniques, Transformations, or Items, players will only be allowed to use those gains from the point that they acquired them. You will not be allowed to retroactively apply your newly acquired gain in a thread you were already a part of before you acquired the gain. [break][break]
You will however, be allowed to take those newly acquired gains into any threads you were not already a part of, regardless of how old the thread is, so long as there are no other rules in regards to such threads.
[break][break]
9) Player Death[break]
You may not kill another Player Character without said Players permission, unless the thread you are both taking part in is specifically labeled to be Death-Enabled. [break]
Players are also not allowed to use one of their own characters to kill another of their own characters. This will be considered meta-gaming and will not only be reversed, but the offending Player will be punished accordingly.
[break][break]
10) Board Alteration[break]
Any thread that has intent to alter a planet or location must be an open, Death-Enabled thread.[break]
Such threads will remain open to new participants for 72 hours, during such time, additional posts besides the entrance post by those who have joined will not be allowed.[break][break]
After 72 hours, the participants may begin posting freely. Players may still join after this 72 hour period, however will only be allowed to join with the Stats, Techniques, Transformations, and Items they had prior to the conclusion of the 72 hour cut-off.[break][break]
If no other players join within the first 72 hours, then the assailant may proceed without resistance and is considered victorious. Alterations to the board are subject to review by Staff, and must be kept within the means of the Player Character.[break]
ie - A newly created character can't be expected to be capable of destroying the world.
[break][break]
1) Solo Threads[break]
Players are allowed to partake in as many Solo threads as they like, however are limited to 10,000 words of grading per week. Any word count beyond 10,000 shall not be graded, and should further solo threads be turned in for grading after the Player has reached their 10,000 word limit, those thread will be considered voided. Each week the reset occurs on Sunday Nights at 11:59PM EST.[break][break]
This rule applies to any and all solo threads, whether it be a Standard Thread, a Gravity Training thread, a Thread used for Learning a Technique, a Quest Thread, or anything else.
[break][break]
2) Gravity Training[break]
By use of a Grvitron purchased from the Shop Page, Player may take part in Gravity training.[break]
Gravity Training is limited to being done no more than 3 times per week in total; should you use your gravity training in a Solo, this is instead lowered to only 2 Gravity Trainings. However you may still use a Group Thread for the 3rd Training.[break][break]
3) Group Threads[break]
Dragonball New Horizon operates on Liquid Time, therefore, Players are allowed to take part in as many threads as they can handle. With that in mind, it is highly frowned upon to join more threads than you are capable of maintaining. Should Staff received a significant amount of Player complaints on your inactivity across multiple threads, you may have a limitation imposed upon the amount of threads you can join.[break][break]
4) First and Final Posts[break]
When doing your first post, whether it be joining a thread or making a new thread, Players are expected to post the Power Level they had when they joined as well as their items and bonuses.[break]
When doing your final Post, you are to clearly note your intention to Exit and include you Total Word Count for the thread for the purpose of grading. Should you fail to include a Total Word Count, you will be warned for your first offense, all subsequent failures to do so will result in the Player losing their gains.[break][break]
The information stated above is not to be edited or altered in any regard, should it be change or should you be accused of having changed it, know that doing so is considered exploitation and will be investigated. Punishments may range from simply having your thread voided, to being issued a Strike against you for exploitation.
[break][break]
5) Skipping Players and Submitting Threads[break]
Standard threads have no time requirement for posting, however it should be noted that should you take extended periods of time between posts then the other participants may consider it griefing and they will be allowed to ask for the thread to either be turned in early or for you to be ejected from the thread. [break][break]
Players are expected to first reach out to the Player in question before taking such drastic measures; failure to do so may result in the opposite effect, and you may be issued punishment for attempting to exploit the Skip/Submission system.[break][break]
Due to the nature of Quests, if done in a group, Players are expected to post within 72 hours of it becoming their turn and are considered skipped should they fail to do so. This may be extended so long as all participants agree to allow it.[break][break]
When participating in DE's or Saga Threads, Players are expected to post within 48 hours of it becoming their turn, and will be considered skipped should they fail to do so. This may not be extended without Staff intervention.[break][break]
6) Multiple Characters[break]
Should you have more than a single character, here on New Horizon we allow you the options to have both characters participate in the same thread.[break]
This now includes characters being able to participate in a DE thread, though in order for this to work the participating characters MUST be on opposite sides of the battle. This means you cannot use two characters to fight another player. These characters will also not be able to provide racial boosts to each other EX, Zenkai.[break]
Be it in Standard Solo's or Standard Group Threads however, Players are free to have any and all of their characters participate.[break]
In the event of Solo's, each character will be held to their own Solo Word Count cap of 10,000.[break]
