Six saibamen surrounded Salada in the middle of the Central Stadium. The plant-like beings squirmed and squawked chaotically, jumping from foot-to-foot, gnashing their claws, their throaty chitters filling the warrior's ears as she anticipated their attack. She had come to the arena searching to train, as per the orders of King Brachus. Apparently, the Earthlings were holding some kind of tournament and, apparently, the king wanted some kind of representation there... for some reason. Were it her choice, she would've allowed the opportunity to come and go. She had missions to do, people to kill, strength to gain... but orders were orders... and for now, Salada had to abide by them. That was why she was here, facing these saibamen. One was hardly a threat on it's own, their powers barely equating to the average low-class, but together...? Yes, together they were a challenge. One lunged at Salada from the front, the Saiyan stepping to the side and chopping down HARD upon it's head. The creature CRASHED to the ground at her feet as another lunged at her back. Catching the movement out of the corner of her eye, Salada swung around sharply, backhanding the Saibamen into another one of it's brethren! two more lunged for Salada from Either side, their claws slashing wildly, aiming for her face! Salada stepped back, grabbing their heads as they passed and SLAMMED them together, the sound of two skulls CRACKING together reverberating through the air! As they fell away, the final one cracked it's skull open down the middle, spraying acid in her direction! Letting out an annoyed 'tsk,' Salada crouched low, ready to spring back, only to lurch forward, unexpectedly! Something had caught her leg!
Looking down, that saibaman she had chopped wrapped its little arms around her leg, its twisted little face contorted with feral smugness! Just then, another latched onto her other leg, then two more grabbing either one of her arms before she could pull away, holding her arms apart! Then one more LATCHING its arms around her waist, pinning her still! All this occurred in a matter of moments, the acid still arching towards her face, threatening to melt it right off! Salada's heart lurched for a second, fear touching her nerves... before it was utterly CONSUMED by OUTRAGE! How dare these... THINGS nearly defeat her!? How dare they make her struggle like this!? She was a SAIYAN WARRIOR! With a ROAR, Salada SWUNG an arm forward, LAUNCHING the left-arm saibamen towards the acid splash! It screamed and gibbered as the acid splashed over it's body before it's half-melted skeleton crashed into the acid-spitter, sending them both tumbling to the ground! She then crossed her free arm over herself... before letting out an EXPLOSION of energy, blowing apart the two on her legs and the one attached to her arm, their pieces splattering across the ground in a sanguine flash of light! The one on her back growled resolutely as it's body began to glow, energy building up inside... Salada's eyes shot wide. The little THING was going to blow itself up! Reaching down, she'd RIP the arms off her waist and HURL the saibaman towards it's brothers, the acid-spitter screeching in fear before it, the melted one, and the exploder BURST apart in a failed self-destruction!
Salada huffed and puffed more with the comedown of adrenaline than exertion, the Saiyan rising to her full height and putting a hand on her hip.
"They're making these things smarter..." She muttered, brushing loose hair out of her face. "...How annoying."

Initially, Athren's plans were simply to spectate the ring for some entertainment. It had only been a few days since he had gotten out of the healing chamber and got back up to full health and he was spending most of his time preparing for this upcoming tournament that the Earth was hosting. While he wasn't excited about venturing to Earth due to the rumors of their pathetic power levels, he knew that this tournament was universe wide and other saiyans would be competing. From the sounds of it, his entire squad was going and he was going to need to compete with them and every ounce of him wanted to come out on top. It was all down to his saiyan pride how far he'd go to get the win and this had created an idea.
While he expected the stadium to be saiyan on saiyan battles today, he instead ended up spectating a female saiyan taking down some saibamen. While it was entertaining on a more humorous level, it wasn't an exciting battle in any way for Sadala was far more than capable of taking them down and everybody watching would've known the outcome before the fight even started. Athren of course took one of the best spots in the house to watch. He used to be a regular here and the staff running the place had known him thoroughly. Instead of sitting in the stands and watching from above, Athren found himself standing at the main entrance to the ring itself. His right shoulder leaning against the wall beside the door as he stood with his arms crossed.
With a trick he learned from his time on Namek during the invasion, Athren used one of the techniques he learned about there in order to feel out this females power. She was more than enough to keep taking down Saibamen and would be a good spar for himself. Of course, assuming that she wasn't holding back anything at all. The way she dressed was clean, she didn't have a rough around the edges appearance like most of the low classes did. He couldn't help but assume she was somewhere in the high class. It didn't take him long before calling out from the edge of the ring and he was going to select his words wisely in an effort to get a little workout today. After all, they were saiyan warriors. They thrived on fighting. While the crowd wasn't as packed as Athren was used too, the spectators could've used a show as well.
"Are you going to keep boring the crowd by fighting these Saibamen, or are you going to actually fight a REAL opponent today?"
He was pretty confident that his words would be more than enough to get a rise out of the female. He'd be surprised if she just let something like that slide in front of the crowd. Athren couldn't help but assume that she was going to challenge him right then and there. Hell, he wouldn't even be surprised if she just put on the offensive and tried to knock his head off. Either way, this could've turned into something a little more fun.

Obviously, Salada's victory was assured. Her, an elite Saiyan warrior losing to cannon fodder? Get REAL! ...Still... The fact that Salada struggled at all, even for that brief instant, was enough to put the warrior in something of a raw mood. Maybe that was the point, to struggle. After all, she was to get stronger to satisfy Brachus' ego and show off to the humans. Still...
Salada snapped back to attention as someone new sauntered into her arena! It was a man, clad in armor and ready to fight! She looked the man up and down, her frown deepening for a moment... before upturning into something of a sharp smirk! Who was this punk, thinking he could talk to her like that? Well, at least he looked tougher than those Saibamen she'd just crushed. Maybe HE could give her the challenge she needed to step up her game a few notches! If nothing else, he could at least make her break a sweat.
"Oh, and I suppose a 'real opponent' would be you?" Salada countered, crossing her arms over her chest. "You don't look like much. Aiming to show off, hm...?" Despite what she said, the more she looked the man over, it was clear he was battle-hardened. Even among Saiyans, it was extremely easy to tell who was green and who was not. The sharpness in their gaze, the EARNED swagger in their step, the way they handled themselves as people who knew exactly what they were capable of. This man met all these criteria in spades...
...Yes, this could be exactly what she was looking for.
"Fine, then. You may... entertain me for a while." ...And like that, Salada would go on the attack! With her hot Saiyan blood pumping freshly from her skirmish with the Saibamen, the warrior was eager to get this show on the road, to push it further, to see just how far her strength could take her! ...Besides, she doubted that this man could push her any harder than those six saibamen. She was a Saiyan elite! The best of the best! This man...? Just a plaything. An exercise-tool at most. She was confident she would have her way and, much to her satisfaction, she was sure, would punch that overconfidence right out of his mouth!
...Speaking of, Salada, lunging for the stranger, would throw a sharp punch dead-center at his face before following up with a rising knee UP at his stomach! From there, she would quickly jump back and fire a quick red energy blast at the man, aiming to strike him dead-center in the chest and knock him to the ground! Ah, it had been some time since Salada actually had to test herself. Most of her recent missions had been simple clean-up-and-conquer-type missions. You know the sort: take out the locals, spare the infrastructure in the event it's required, secure the planet for the empire.... Basic stuff that gave as much excitement as she imagined meat-preparation might!
Now, although she hated the reason for it, she had purpose to TRY... and it already felt GOOD.

As Athren suspected, his words had hit their mark and her attention darted right towards him in a quick snap. He observed her figure, the way her body shifted and the focus she put on him all while he remained calm and cross armed by the door. He read the smirk on her face like an open book. Without a doubt, she was going to take this as a challenge and try to prove that she was a better fighter and Athren couldn't help but welcome it. Hell, it even brought a big smirk to his face. His blood was already pumping at the thought of a spar and while it was only a spar, this wasn't with somebody he knew, this wasn't a 'friendly' match between his squad for training. There was something on the line here in front of the crowd and that was reputation. While Athren personally didn't care what others thought of him, his own pride had a say in what he thought of him and he wouldn't tolerate a defeat, especially since he was just fresh off of one. He had to turn that around, not for anybody else but for his own sake.  At this point he stood straight on his feet, no longer leaning against the wall and started slowly pacing towards the woman. "Why don't you come and find out for yourself?" Of course, his response was to being a real opponent. Her comment on him not looking like much was something he didn't respond too, he didn't feel the need. He knew that if he was backed into a corner he could transform into his powered up state but he wasn't going to resort to that here. He was going to keep it basic, he was going to stay right on her level and see who could come out on top. His base strength versus her own.
"I can entertain you for as long as you'd like, assuming you can even keep up." Just like that, she had closed the gap swiftly. The first attack at that distance always being the easiest one to see coming. Athren's head swiftly shifted out of the way as her punch forced a rushing breeze past his cheek. The excitement in his body excelled further now that he was actually facing down attacks. His blood pumped and he couldn't be more at home. Suddenly, he was grateful he decided to make an appearance to the Stadium now. Her knee swung up rapidly, connecting with his stomach. He hunched over slightly for all but a brief second and by time she had leaped back he was already on the move. He was heading right towards her. With her blast incoming he swiftly spun himself out of the way and closed the gap. He wanted to be close, he wanted to exchange blows, he wanted to let loose and have some fun in the way he knew best. With the gap now closed, Athren followed through with his momentum and launched his right elbow right towards the center of her chest. He followed up with a nice spin kick that followed through on her right side aiming for the side of her body. He couldn't wipe the smirk off his face and it helped that the crowed started to roar and cheer, not for an individual fighter but for the spectacle itself.

This one had quite the mouth on him, didn't he...? What an utter and complete lack of respect! Behind her smirk, behind the upturned curl of her lips that displayed nothing but serene confidence in her own power, Salada's teeth ground together in outrage. How dare he speak to her that way!? What, did he take one-too-many blows to the head on his last mission? Did the Cerealians, who had been the current focus of the Saiyan Empire, rattle him to the point of insanity...? OR did he simply wish to die? Salada narrowed her eyes at the man's overconfident clap-back, her grin slowly flipping into a frown. Were lower-class runts like these coming from? This wasn't the first man Salada had to put down for mouthing off too much. In fact, Salada, just recently, CRUSHED a woman who dared to talk back to her when she gave an order. Things had escalated to the point of a duel and... well... one could guess how that turned out.
The point was that lower class soldiers like this were getting too confident, too brazen. They were challenging the authority of their rightful rulers, perhaps without even consciously attempting too! They were much like this man, seemingly oblivious to their place in the world... or perhaps he was all-too-aware and was attempting to make a power-play. ...He was defiant... and she WOULD bring him down a peg or ten.
...And to start, Salada would ATTACK! Her first punch whiffed in almost a comical fashion, the man merely tilting his head out of the way of the blow! He might've not been leaning against the wall anymore, but they were still close and Salada's fist SMASHED into the rock-wall of the arena! The sound of stone crumbling around her fist as it SLAMMED into it's surface filled Salada's ears like the buzzing of a fly, annoying... But the second achieved more. Salada's knee drilled into the man's stomach, making him pay for his overconfidence before she shot back and fired a blast! With grace rarely ever seen from lower-class warriors, the man spun away, recovering from Salada's attack with surprising speed before it was HIS turn to go on the offensive!
Salada would RUSH to meet the man, her hand catching his elbow as it SHOT at her chest! ...Now, Salada noticed something just then as she deflected his first attack: ...It was hard to budge. Salada actually had to put in EFFORT to make the man's elbow stop short of it's target! ...Another sign of his strength. First speed, then power... Who WAS this guy!? The man would quickly use this moment as a distraction to SPIN around and KICK Salada in the side, the elite letting out a sharp grunt as she staggered a step to the side, an eye shut in pain! INSTANT anger! Pain... from a LOW CLASS!? ...Then her blood kicked in.
No... A real fight... from a SAIYAN! She need not let herself grow petulant... not right now. She was still in control.... And besides, this was what she wanted: A CHALLENGE! Salada smirked, as she regained her footing.
"Not bad. You know a few moves." Salada complimented, clapping her gloved hands together playactingly. "Let's keep going." ...And with that, Salada would re-engage! She would throw a flurry of punches at the man, going up and down his body before ducking REAL low, adopting almost the posture of an animal before SWEEPING her leg at his, aiming to take them out from under him! She would then shoot up and RAISE her leg in a MIGHTY rising kick, aiming to send the man into the sky for an aerial battle, the elite shooting right up after him!

Rushing to meet him, the gap closed even faster and he had to admit that he was rather pleased with this. He thrived for the up close and personal fight, it's where he belong. While he was capable of using ranged attacks and knew a few techniques, there was no place he'd rather be except for within punching distance of his opponent. It's where quick reaction and thinking excelled. It was where any warrior would be put to the test as the pressure applied by their opponent was intense and rapid. It didn't allow for a lot of time for a fighter to think and everything was pushed to the limits. With his first attack being deflected, his second attack with the spin kick connected with her side and he couldn't help but hear her grunt. He couldn't help but assume she expected far less from him and would even bet that seeing him perform in such a way would get under her skin, even to the smallest degree. Of course, he didn't quite care how she felt about anything he did. Athren wasn't one to give a shit about the rankings the saiyans created, this 'low class' and 'high class' shit didn't really matter when there had been a few low class warriors capable of holding their own against the elites. In his head, it was nothing more than something to inflate the ego's of those who were deemed powerful from a young age, to make them feel superior, more powerful and more important than the rest of the saiyan race. The simple truth of the matter was, it didn't prove anything. With her regaining her footing, her next words caught Athren by surprise though he wouldn't exactly show it on his face. She gave him a compliment? That wasn't something he ever could've expected. It wasn't like a warrior like her to compliment somebody like that in battle, even if it was a small thing. His ocean blue eyes locked onto hers, they had a very serious look within them and his smirk was still wide on his face. It was evident that he was meant to be here, he was born for battle, thrived off it. "If you attacked me as much as you talked, I might actually be able to warm up."He paused for a very brief moment,
"But if you already need a break, there's an entire stadium full of empty seats for you to spectate from and I'm sure somebody else would be eager to take your spot." He wanted her on the attack, he wanted her going all out and non-stop. He was letting her lead this little dance, after all he did cut into her own little event. At this point, he was just here for the amusement and the training session. He didn't need to lead it, he just needed to react to what was coming his way.  Once more, she closed the gap and the battle continued. Both saiyans engaged in a flurry of punches and kicks. Athren was blocking, and dodging and throwing all his own attacks at the same pace she was. Of course, the odd attack of hers would slip through and collide with various places of his body but none of them were devastating enough to do any REAL damage. She hit hard and her punches were heavy, some of the more powerful hits he'd taken from a saiyan, yet they wouldn't be nearly enough to break Athren. Dropping low, Athren knew she was aiming low and with a swift sweep of the leg, Athren did a quick back flip to gain some distance and avoid the sweep. He pushed in fast and hard to continue his own attack only to feel the swift kick to his chin that sent him flying up into the sky. "Umph!" A grunt escaped his lips on impact. He caught himself in the air, his black glove wiping the blood from his lip as he watched her fly up to keep up her attack. Now this was more like it. He waited a moment, he allowed her to get nice and close before he began thrusting both hands forward and unleashing a barrage of rather weak Ki blasts her way.

"Aha... Perhaps." Salada smirked and shrugged, brushing off Athren's little remark like it was nothing more than a bite from a fly. "You talk big for low-class garbage. Let's see you actually deliver on some of it!" And like that, Salada LUNGED at Athren! Punches and kicks were exchanged like shots from a firing line, the two going back and forth, back and forth, dodging some, blocking others, landing even more! Strength was sacrificed for speed as the two warriors duked it out in the center of the arena, testing speed, reaction time, defense and more, akin to the smallest knife poking at a wall, aiming to find the weakpoints a more powerful attack could exploit!
"Powerful"... as if the ground and air around them weren't already pulsating from their conflict! Salada would catch one of Athren's punches and the force would cause the ground below her to quiver, struggling to absorb the residual energy! Athren would bat aside one of Salada's, and the air would give way for METERS past it, causing a sharp *CLAP* sound as air rushed back in to fill the void! This seemed to go on forever, neither opponent giving ground, both warriors wrestling for any kind of meaningful advantage...
...But only one of them seemed to actually be struggling. A bead of sweat rolled down Salada's face as she put more and more energy into keeping the balance between herself and Athren, the Elite warrior feeling her muscles start to burn as she made them work overtime to keep her offense strong and relentless against her opponent's onslaught. He was strong... TOO strong for his station! Enough... to make HER sweat!? And his speed... She almost had to anticipate each punch in order to keep up! She... She was losing her grip on this engagement! THis realization was a blow to her pride harder than ANY PUNCH Athren had landed so far, her lips curling back into a frustrated snarl as her eyes FLARED with wrathful anger!
How could this be, that a low-class fool like him could challenge the likes of her!? SHE WAS AN ELITE WARRIOR! THEY SHOULD BE INCOMPARABLE!
Salada's eyes widened as she suddenly felt her legs SWEPT out from under her, her eyes flicking down to see Athren's leg shoving hers out of the way! She grunted in irritation, catching herself on the ground with her hand and swinging her legs around, aiming to take his out as well, but the speedy bastard flipped away before her kicks could make purchase!
"RRRGH!" Salada rumbled, JUMPING to her feet and SHOOTING after him, the toe of her boot CATCHING him under his chin and sending him skyward! JUMPING after him, Salada would soon be set upon by a VOLLEY of energy blasts raining down upon her as Athren played keep-away with his barrage of weak, but VERY numerous blasts! The first wave was easy enough to deflect, Salada pushing into them with her hands out in front, batting them aside like an expert ball-player of some kind... But then there was the second... and the third, each one flowing into the last with no time for reprieve! Salada once again felt her body strain under the onslaught of attacks, to keep them from landing upon her and disgracing her further! One slipped past, nailing her in the chest....
...And as much as she hated to admit it, the impact knocked a decent bit of wind out of her. Salada grunted and recoiled, another volley of blasts already moving to fall upon her. Salada seethed, clutching the spot on her breastplate where she'd been struck, feeling the soot stain her perfect armor. ...Stained by a low-class warrior.
"ENOUGH!" Salada roared, pointing her hands at Athren and firing a MASSIVE BEAM in his direction, enveloping his little energy blasts and ROCKETING towards him! If he didn't move... well, he'd be scorched by the wrath of a REAL Saiyan warrior! If he did... well... Salada hoped he did. Low class Saiyans were cowards! She anticipated him to be no different.

His smirk couldn't help but grow even bigger after being called low class garbage. If only she knew what he was truly capable of, he was holding back to a degree here. While he was trying in this fight, he was only in his base form and he had a way to increase his power level quite drastically. While he wasn't sure what to call the form, it would've easily been enough to make this effortless. Of course, he wasn't planning on resorting to it, he just couldn't help but find it amusing that she thought he was nothing more than garbage. In his own mind, he had already proven that he was far from garbage as he was making her put in a lot more effort than she should as an 'elite' and in reality, he should've already lost this little battle of theirs.
As they exchanged blows in the furious clash, Athren couldn't help but notice the sweat beads rolling down this elites face. While Athren wasn't quite at that point of exertion yet. He was maintaining her pace but it wasn't as draining on him as it was on her. He could feel his body working, pushing itself to near it's limit. He just simply had one advantage here, he was slightly stronger than her and he honestly only had the Zenkai boost from Cereal to blame for it. Surely, if he would've had this battle before he left for Cereal, the roles would've been reversed and he would've been the one sweating.
His energy barrage was rather pathetic, but one had managed to slip through and hit her in the chest. In all honesty, he just wanted to apply some pressure as she charged him and slow down her plan. He wanted to test her to see how quick she could adapt and react to the situation. After all, she appeared to be dead set on some kind of a plan pushing forward.
What he didn't expect was for the way she reacted. He figured she would've shifted directions hard and came in from around the barrage of Ki blasts but instead she did something to power through it. She took aim at Athren and unleashed a massive beam in his direction. His ocean blue eyes observed it coming at him fast as he stopped unleashing a barrage of Ki blasts. This attack was going to be one that would take everything he had to handle but he wasn't going to get out of the way. He was going to challenge it head on, he was going to see if he could redirect it out of the stadium and straight up into the air.
"Finally."
He stated, excited to be faced with such a powerful attack. Something that would test his limits. Athren's right hand began to glow with a red aura as he channeled his ki into it. He was preparing his Nova Punch technique. At the moment, he knew his options were rather limited. He needed to clash her attack with something but he didn't want to take this into a beam struggle. With some quick thinking, his answer was simple. He was going to meet her power with his own and use his technique to bash it away. He waited until her blast was right there in his face before reacting, his timing needed to be perfect.
"RAH!"
He exclaimed out as he thrust his fist forward, his angle clear and his aim to redirect the technique out of the ring and into the atmosphere where it couldn't do any damage to the planet itself. A bright light formed when his fist hit her attack and he had to push through, put the saiyan managed to redirect the attack upward.
"Heh.."
He mumbled. Forcing that much Ki into his fist had left him rather out of breath. His breathing was deep, slow and steady as his ocean blue eyes glared down at his opponent once more. A bead of sweat was now running down his own face. "That wasn't half bad." He grinned. As much as he wanted to return to the offensive and the main fight, he decided it best to take a brief moment to catch his breath.

Salada's eyes widened... but then her face contorted into a sharp, ugly smile as she realized... this idiot was going to stand his ground! She had expected him to run away, but this would work! She was going to intercept him as she attempted to flee, jumping him has he moved and giving his crown a nice taste of her sledgehammer-strike... but if he was ready to give up now and DIE this way, she was content to oblige him! As the sanguine light overtook Athren from her vision, the elite began to relax. Soon, she would feel her energy wave overcome him, his body, resisting at first, before falling away to shreds... and then dust: dead... and another victory for Salada, as it should be. She waited for that moment calmly. It was inevitable. His strength would give and he would DIE.... Only it wouldn't, and he didn't.
Salada's face contorted with frustration as Athren wouldn't give even an inch and, in fact, Salada felt something PUSH INTO the blast she was throwing at Athren! It wasn't a blast or a weapon of some kind but... a FIST!? She stared in disbelief as Athren shoved his FIST into her energy wave, causing it to bend and contort up his arm!
"What is that idiot doing!?" She growled to herself, putting MORE POWER into the blast! ...It budged him none. "HOW IS HE DOING THIS!?" The answer would not come with words... but an upturn of Athren's punch! Like a guide, Athren would twist her blast with the curl of his fist, uppercutting into the sky and causing her blast to go up with it, flying harmlessly up into the atmosphere! Sweat now openly ran down Salada's face as she stared up at her opponent in disbelief, her chest rising and falling heavily with each exerted breath! ...He shouldn't have been able to do that.... That attack should have been beyond him! HOW WAS HE THIS STRONG!? Granted, that attack wasn't anything special, just a beam with some gusto put into it... but that SHOULD have been enough! He SHOULD have at least been wounded!
...If anything, he seemed more fired up than demoralized!
"...Heh." Salada grunted, her expression flipping from disbelief... to a cruel smirk. "...Don't get cocky, you low-born trash..." She clenched her hands into fists at her sides, her muscles tensing under her skin-tight battle suit! A glowing red outline surrounded Salada as she gathered her power, energy crackling around her body as her signature began to rise! "...We're just getting started!"

He couldn't help but take a few more deep breaths as Salada got her bearings on what had just happened. He observed her smirk and listened to her words again. Once more, she called him trash. It was rather surprising, he had kept up with her without issues, he was more than capable of going toe to toe with everything she was dishing out and yet she had the nerve to keep calling him trash? He couldn't help but shake his head slightly as his breathing pattern returned to a normal state.
"Garbage, Trash.."
He trailed off as his posture straightened out as she started to gather her power. He sensed that her power level was on the increase and he knew he was going to have to match it. He didn't want to exceed it, in fact he'd do his very best to match it perfectly here. Maybe at the end he'd show off just a little bit to put her in her place but for now, he was keeping this perfectly balanced.
"Easy words to throw around, aren't they? A simple way to keep your pride and your ego inflated."
His own red aura flared around his body as he began to increase his power level now, matching it to hers by the second. His fists clenched tightly as he drew out more power. This was the first time in his base form that he was tapping into so much. Previously, he didn't have this much power to even tap into. While he was having fun with this fight, this was also a very nice experience for him, he had to see what he was capable of after that Zenkai boost. While she never said she was an elite, the way she spoke about him being low class garbage was a sure sign that was what she was. She was an elite warrior from the warrior race, and elite that was outclassed by a low level, a low class warrior born out in the sticks of Vegeta.
"You talk as if you're an elite warrior, a superior fighter. All while a low class has kept up with your every move." He snickered. "Tell me, What value does an elite hold after a defeat from a low class warrior?"
With their power levels completely on par, the stage was once again set. Athren couldn't help but wonder whether or not this elite was holding back and perhaps Athren was gambling with his words. He was looking for a reaction but the small signs of fatigue and sweat she displayed made him think that she didn't have much more power to display. He was hoping his words would spark something within her, force her to go all out and he was more than willing to take the punishment. He was going to build her up for success and then, he'd power up to his maximum in base and overpower her, crush her, and show her that being an elite meant nothing. He wasn't going to rely on any transformations, simply his own base power.
"Come on then elite, quit playing your games and holding back. Prove why you're worthy of the title Elite."
Athren took a stance and awaited what was to come.

Salada was losing her patience with this one. Is this all he can do? SPEAK!? Perhaps he could fight, perhaps he could even HURT her... but it didn't really FEEL like a fight. So much of this "battle" was cerebral, the man attempting to get into her head with his words as well as his fists. He was distinctly aware that he held the advantage... somehow, but instead of drilling into her with his POWER... he spoke to her instead. Salada glared at the man with the smallest hint of boredom mixed into the frustration of her stare. All this talk and the most he could say was NOTHING. It was like a boulder telling the sky it was larger, or a sheep threatening a wolf with it's teeth. "What would an elite be worth after a defeat by a low class...?"
WHAT a USELESS question. Useless, and incomprehensible! There was no need to answer such a question for two reasons: To do so, either in the affirmative or the negative, would do nothing but validate it and Athren. The second... was to suggest that it was possible. The Saiyan only gathered more and more of her power, raising a hand over her head, her snarl turning into a smirk. If there was one thing she was learning from this little fight of theirs, it was that she was letting her temper get away from her, play into this idiot's hands. She was nearly about to respond to his comment, to affirm her status as "superior..." and, as a result, come off as petulent, foolish, as if she had something to prove to someone so OBVIOUSLY below her. Salada thought of King Braccus, how his cool head and icily devious demeanor had lead the Saiyans to victories innumerable, how he never let his pride crumble under pressure. THAT was something to respect. All the bluster and foolishness in the world could jab at the man and he would never break.
...So Salada wouldn't either. Slowly, her form would relax, her aura, still surging, would do so at a more even pace, her eyes cooling to icy black coals. Salada observed how Athren held himself, how he spoke: evenly and without much effort. Someone who was really struggling, who could speak so brazenly and so confidently... It implied he somehow had even MORE power in reserve, that he wasn't even TRYING against her right now. The realization initially STABBED resentment through the Saiyan... before the feeling was captured and killed inside. What replaced it... was devious satisfaction.
If he was so over-confident to think himself indestructible, that he was out of her reach, he was a FOOL. His little handicap would work in HER favor, the Elite would see to that.
Salada would take in a deep breath, let it out, and her aura would flicker off. She lowered herself into an even battle stance... before LUNGING at Athren, a punch aimed at his chest. Suddenly, Salada's hand would IGNITE with red ki, the energy EXTENDING OUT like a blade aimed for his chest! Her punch would turn into a stab, aiming to run the man through before she would bring her hand around again and SLICE him from shoulder to opposite-hip across the body!

What Athren didn't expect next was silence. She had been quite a vocal one up until this point. It seemed he might've finally hit a nerve. Her silence was surely more to worry about than her talking, it seemed as if she was going to take this very seriously now and Athren couldn't blame her for that. Hell, he honestly didn't know what to expect in terms of her next move. Part of him suspected that she was going to go all out and beat him into a bloody pulp but at the same time, she was far more difficult to read now that she had remained silent. All he could really do was wait to see her next move and try his best to be prepared for it. He got back into his fighting stance as the fight was about to pick back up, he held continued to hold himself up with his Ki as he hovered in the air, waiting patiently.
With a deep breath out, Salada took to a rush once more and closed the gap between them. She lunched at him and threw a punch directly at his chest and he was going to let it hit, he was going to let her rough him up a little bit, he was going to build her confidence only to take it all away. Though that plan went to shit in a hurry. He heard the sound of Ki igniting, his vision caught wind of a red energy blade extending straight out to his chest.
"Shit!" He exclaimed.
He knew he didn't have time to dodge this thing completely and he sort of asked for it. He shifted his body to the side in an attempt to side step it, he swung his arm up to minimalism contact with the blade. It cut through his armor and slid along the side of his body. Cutting cleanly and close to the ribs. It was a deep wound, one that would need immediate attention after this thing was all said and done. "Urgh!" He grunted out in pain.
"BITCH!" He said aloud, caught off guard by the sudden fact that she was aiming to kill him. That wasn't what this was about. This one, was supposed to be for entertainment purposes. She forced him to take this more seriously, now it just seemed like a battle to the death. With her hand moving smoothly, she brought her hand up for another swing at him. He moved back just in time to avoid any major damage but once again the blade cut through his armor and into his skin. While this one wasn't as deep as the last, it was still painful.
Seeing his moment to counter attack, his aura flared up and his power level peaked out to what it was in his base in an instant. He hovered in close and fast, his head lunging forward in an attempt to smash her nose in with his forehead. He would also try to use this as a moment to try to get her back down to ground level. His right fist followed his forehead, aimed right at her face again. His left fist swiftly moved to connect to her stomach in a powerful under swing motion and if this collided, he'd try to use his pressure to get behind her and intertwine his hands for a big and powerful double axe handle strike to her back to send her STRAIGHT down into the ground.
Hopefully, it would all go according to plan but Athren needed to be careful now, she elevated this fight and death seemed like a reasonable outcome if he didn't take it seriously.

"Tch." Salada grunted Athren WHIRLED aside, avoiding a deathblow! ...Nearly. Salada saw her blade slice into the edge of Athren's torso, feel it slice along his ribs, threatening to cut deeper into something more important! The look of surprise on her opponent's face was something Salada relished, almost as much as the splash of red escaping the wound now slashed into his flesh! Her followup swing left an arch of red blood in the air as Athren scurried away to avoid it, sputtering expletives as the situation set in! She GUFFAWED at the man's insult, raising her blade close to her face so that the red light danced across her fair skin.
"What's wrong, grunt?" Salada snickered, blood dribbling off the edge of her blade. "You underestimated me, that's what. ...And now you've paid the price." She nodded at the weeping gash in Athren's side. "You'll bleed out in minutes if you let that go untreated. I win... Its only a matter of how long until my victory is complete." She smirked, flicking her energy-blade to the side and ejecting the last of Athren's blood. "...But don't worry. I don't intend to kill you. You're strong, and the empire will need warriors like you... for now- UNG!" In an instant, Athren had closed the distance and SLAMMED his forehead into Salada's face! The elite recoiled, her focus shattered, she clutched at her aching face with her free hand... only to get SOCKED across the jaw! The third she was ready for, Salada, face contorted into a grimace, brought he arm in close to her body, turning to the side so that her forearm took the brunt of the punch meant for her stomach! By now, blood had started to dribble over Salada's upper lip, the punch to her face having left a nasty cut along the inside of her cheek. ...But the taste of blood... the exertion of a battle... the adrenaline in her veins..
...She LOVED IT!
...And then a pair of fists SLAMMED into her skull from above! One minute, Salda was feeling the HIGH of battle, the next, she was CRASHING INTO THE GROUND hard enough to send a small crater expanding out vastly across the earth! Salada GAGGED as fire exploded along her spine and around her front, ugly bruises forming along her forehead and jaw from where Athren had struck her! HE was getting stronger... despite that HOLE she had carved in him, he was still... getting STRONGER!
"Uuugh..." She groaned, Salada rising to her feet. Her body protested the motion, BEGGING she not move so quickly.... but at the same time... "Heh..." Salada's face turned into a smirk. Pain, pain that would incapacitate anyone but a Saiyan, made Salada feel ALIVE! Energy flowed through her, filling the warrior with encouragement! YES, she was hurt. And PERHAPS her ears were ringing... but none of that mattered. Her victory was inevitable! ...And there was still so much more fight to come.
"Is that the best you got?" Salada scoffed, spitting a glob of blood into the sand. "Let's go. Yes, come on, you low-class dog. Let me show you what a real Saiyan can do!"

Before Athren had managed to unleash his combination on her, she had a few words for him. Even going as low as calling him a grunt once more and claiming that he'd bleed out in a few minutes if he left his new wound unattended. This didn't bother him, not in the slightest. What bothered him was her claiming that her victory was complete. She also said she wouldn't kill him because the Empire needed warriors like him, yet if he was a second slower he would've wound up dead anyway.
As he hovered above he placed a hand on his wound, his eyes glaring down at his opponent. He touched the wound and winced lightly in pain as he brought his hand up to see just how much blood was pumping out. It was already trailing down his outfit and dripping onto the ground far below him. He knew he had minutes or less.
Yet, he couldn't help but smirk as he gazed down at his opponent. His fists clenched as his aura flared up once more. He didn't back down against the much stronger Cerealian, he wasn't going to back down now because she got in a cheap shot. She was so damn certain of victory, but Athren was going to make her earn it. He was going to fight until he dropped and the crowd? They roared at this point, the climax of this fight was coming and every single spectator was on the edge of their seat.
"If I've only got minutes, I best finish you off quick."
Athren had still been full of confidence. His wound only fueled him, this situation was where he belonged. He was a warrior, he didn't know surrender and he damn well wasn't going to give into her now. He was going to fight until he quite literally dropped dead.
He tapped into everything he had in his base form, he brought all his power to the surface. Every little bit. There wasn't going to be any holding back and Athren was going to put his mind to work. She wanted to see the best he could do? So be it and he could be just as sneaky.
It was at this moment with his height advantage that Athren began to rain down fire a massive barrage of Ki blasts. Most of them had been aimed right at her but there was also a punch that were hitting the ground around her in a circle. Now this was completely intention. He wanted the dust to kick up nice and thick and he wanted to keep her distracted. With the dust kicked up nice and thick, surrounding her and slightly hovering above her, Athren would hope it was enough to make his move.
He mumbled to himself quietly.
"You want to see the best I've got? Well, here it comes."
He now used his Ki suppression technique. He didn't know whether or not she could sense Ki, but he was betting on it.
He now moved rapidly to the side of the arena, completely vanishing from his vantage point above. It was at this point that Athren kicked off the ground and darted directly towards Sadala. His power level flared up instantly to it's max level again as red Ki formed around his clenched right fist. He had put EVERYTHING he had and more into this move. As he moved, blood continued to run off his clothing and drip onto the ground. He closed the gap quickly, now being beside her.
"HERE IT IS!"
He exclaimed now that he was in punching range as he aimed his Nova Punch technique directly at her stomach. Whether this technique collided or not, Athren would commit to his next move. He would retract that very same fist. He pivoted on his left foot to spin himself around to gather some momentum for the next throw. By time his body spun and his hand wrapped around, a red orb of energy was in his hand. It wasn't a smooth orb and was very rough around the edges. It was time for her to meet his Nova Cannon.
"NOVA........ CANNON!"
He exclaimed as he now launched this technique at her. Whether she was hit and sent flying back or whether she was right there standing before him. He put his best efforts into this technique. He wanted to finish her, knock her down a peg. The blood, honestly drew something out of him. He couldn't quit. Maybe it was a sadistic part of his demon side he didn't know about or maybe it was just his pride. Either way, this wasn't over until he dropped dead or she was out cold.

"IDIOT!" Salada roared, Athren raining down yet more blasts upon her! "HAVEN'T YOU REALIZED YET!? THIS ATTACK IS USELESS!" To demonstrate her point, Salada began BATTING aside the energy blasts as they came down, catching and throwing some into others, blasting some away with her own energy! She couldn't MOVE from this spot, though, as any focus she'd put towards moving would be taken away from Athren... and THAT would result in her being blasted into next week. Despite Salada's BIG proclamations... she was trapped... and she knew it. It was only her Saiyan blood amping her up and Salada's own determination to PROVE herself TO herself that kept her in this fight, kept playing a defensive stalemate against Athren.
As the final attack came down, Salada caught the blast and held it in her hand, her gloves steaming and charred, even torn along the palms after slapping away so many blasts! Cocking her hand back, she prepared to THROW Athren's blast back at him... before realizing... that he wasn't up there any more! Frowning, Salada reached up and pressed the button on her scouter, setting it to "SCAN" mode. ...Nothing...?
...Was he dead? No, she would have noticed him dropping out of the sky. Then... Wait... Did he know how to HIDE his energy? That bastard... he was HIDING FROM HER!
"What's wrong?" She challenged, flicking her eyes this way and that around the arena. "Are you frightened of me? Come on! I took you for a warrior! What kind of warrior hides from battle!?" ...The sound of a RAPID movement perked Salada's ears up, the Saiyan whirling around to see Athren SHOOTING at her like a missile! She smirked as Athren proclaimed that THIS was his full power, Salada bringing her and around and HURLING Athren's blast at him! She would then raise a hand over her head, gathering her energy into a VERY SMALL... but VERY DENSE sphere of ki, it growing from barely the size of her finger-tip... to the size of her fist... to the size of a basketball! Her teeth gritted in a feral, eager smirk as Athren punched RIGHT THROUGH his own blast and BLITZED into near-arm's reach!
"Eat this, you fool!" Salada roared, HURLING her energy sphere in a downwards arch at him, aiming to blow him to kingdom come! It would be a shame if he were to die like this but hey, he wasn't irreplaceable. He-
"UUUUURGH!" In the next second, Salada DOUBLED over as a massive fist DUG into her stomach, blood bursting out from between her lips as the already present damage was compounded upon! Salada dropped to one knee, the pain even too much for her Saiyan body, her hands clutching at her stomach as if a hole had been blown through it! Thoughts fizzled, her vision blackened at the edges, her eyes dulling in their sockets...
...And then there was a light. A big red one....
"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" She SCREAMED as Athren blasted her, the Elite, so proud of her power, was blasted ALL THE WAY across the arena and into the opposite wall! In a BURST of dust and an explosion of light, Salada disappeared into obscurity...
...Until it cleared of course.
"...Is that... all... you got....?" A voice reverberated from the murk! As the dust cleared, there stood Salada, on wobbling legs, mangled armor, burned and battered from head to toe... but still very much alive! One of her eyes was clenched shut as blood ran down over it from he forehead, red running freshly and steadily down from the corner of her mouth and off the tip of her chin... but damn it, she just wouldn't go down!
"Pa....THETIC!"
